The mission of the Bonne Terre Chamber of Commerce is to take a leadership role in improving the economic environment and enhancing the quality of life in the Bonne Terre area.  The date of incorporation from the Bonne Terre Chamber of Commerce was February 13, 1939.  The first officers were:

  • George Spain – President
  • Charles W. Chandler – Vice President
  • Kenneth Adams – Secretary/Treasurer

The chamber was incorporated for the purpose of promoting the civic, economic, and social welfare of the people of Bonne Terre and for the purpose of involving itself in City, County, State, and National programs so far as they influence the growth, development, and prosperity of Bonne Terre and the territory it serves.  Until 1992 the chamber did not have a permanent office.  During the presidency of Wayne Weber, the chamber achieved goals of hiring a secretary and opening an office in the Shepard House.  The Chamber purchased their own building in 2011, 41 S. Young St, in our building, we have several incubator offices for rent, our Executive Director, Leigha Head’s office and the Bonne Terre License office which, we are the fee agent.

The current chamber board consists of:

  • President – Taylor Lumsden
  • Vice President – Dave Bahr
  • Treasurer – Karon Murphy
  • Board of Directors – Amy Proffer, Samantha McDowell, Bill Cotton, Suzanne Mullins, Scott Griffin, Brian Boyer, and Janice Bess.

Membership Dues:

Non-Profit/ Retired Individuals is $50

  • For-Profit Business or Agent with 0-6 employees is $75
  • For-Profit Business or Agent with 7-14 employees is $100
  • For-Profit Business or Agent with 15 + employees is $250

Or sign up as a Gold, Silver or Lead Member.

  • Gold Membership is $2000
  • Silver Membership is $1000
  • Lead Membership is $500

The Gold, Silver and Lead members receive special plaques to be displayed and they receive special recognition throughout the year.  When you join the chamber, you are investing in your community.  You help to maintain the face of Bonne Terre through the beautification projects, which helps Bonne Terre make a positive presentation to visitors and potential new businesses.  The chamber maintains a network between businesses through weekly emailed newsletters, a Facebook page, and other informational mediums.  The chamber provide free access to bulk postage for your business use.  The chamber sponsors several annual events including The Christmas Parade, Blood Drive, Kids Fishing Derby, The Fourth of July Fireworks Display, Annual Golf Outing, and our Annual Auction Fundraiser.

The Bonne Terre Chamber also has a joint committee with the City of Bonne Terre.  The Bonne Terre Community Betterment Committee is a joint venture between the two along with many residents of Bonne Terre focusing on the betterment of our town.
